Welcome to Port Appin Studio
Port Appin Studio is run by local artists Midge and Alex Gourlay who live and work in Port Appin, Argyll. The studio specialises in Scottish landscape paintings, textile arts and fine art giclée prints.
Alex Gourlay former Head of Design at BBC Scotland, is a Scottish landscape artist who works from his home in Port Appin. From 1967, he was a Scenic Designer both in the UK and abroad. Also a graduate of the Glasgow School of Art, he has rekindled his love of drawing and painting since moving to the west coast and draws his inspiration from the landscape around him. More »
Midge Gourlay is a Scottish textile artist and teacher, trained at Glasgow School of Art, specialising in embroidered and woven textiles. She has exhibited widely throughout the UK and works mainly to commission and for exhibitions. Her work is mainly inspired by West Highland land and seascapes and by regular visits to the Corbières region of southwest France. More »
