We are situated near the busy pier at Port Appin, Argyll, with inspirational views from our studio across Loch Linnhe to the islands of Lismore and Mull and the Morvern peninsula. Nearby Castle Stalker and the magnificent Glencoe, with its mountains, lochs and rivers, provide a continuous source of interesting subject matter for artists. The studio has its own attractive garden and is adjacent to seashore walks.

Participants stay locally at a wide range of recommended accommodation to suit all purses, from B&B's, hotels or self-catering, and have use of our large studio as a base with as much time as possible spent 'en plein air'. Packed lunches, teas and coffees are provided.

Professional tuition is in small groups, to help artists at all levels of ability to further develop their artistic skills by inspiration and instruction, while not losing sight of the holiday aspect. Work at your own pace in your own preferred medium. The studio is well equipped, and easels, boards and stools are available for use. Your work can also be reproduced using state of the art in-house giclée printing facilities at discounted prices for participants. Basic art supplies are for sale.

Midge is a textile artist and teacher, trained at Glasgow School of Art. Specialising in embroidered and woven tellies, she has exhibited widely throughout the UK and works mainly to commission and for exhibitions.

Alex, former Head of Design at BBC Scotland, now works and paints from his home in Appin. From 1967 he was a Scenic Designer, working on major TV productions both in the UK and abroad. Also a graduate of Glasgow School of Art, he has rekindled his love of drawing and painting since moving to the West Coast, and draws his inspiration from the landscape around him.

Our approach is informal but constructive, with personal attention and on-going support and mentoring.
